MEDIATOR TRAINING

Become a JMP Community Mediator

Just Mediation Pittsburgh's community mediators are the heartbeat of our eviction mediation work. Responding to Allegheny County's eviction crisis, JMP receives referrals for housing disputes between landlords and tenants before an eviction is filed, hoping to resolve them outside of the court system. Community mediators are assigned as impartial, neutral third parties. A JMP mediator’s role is to help each party clarify their issues, find greater collective understanding, and create a legally binding mediation agreement that sets a clear path forward for both parties in lieu of a court judgement. Community mediators receive a stipend for the time they give to each mediation.
